1985 โ Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape
The Consumer Boycott
Black South Africans represented 40% of consumer spending. Targeted businesses lost 80โ100% of revenue within one month. The military withdrew. Leaders were released.
1988 โ Boksburg, Ekurhuleni
The Retail Boycott
Businesses supporting apartheid faced bankruptcy. The Conservative Party's petty apartheid laws were reversed under economic pressure within months.
